Static vs dynamic QR codes

Both look identical on paper. The difference is whether the link inside the square can change after you print it, and whether scans pass through MrURL.

Static QR codes (free on MrURL)

When you use the free maker on mrurl.co, the code embeds the URL you paste — for example https://your-cafe.com/menu. A phone reads that address directly.

Static codes suit items with a permanent destination: a business card that always opens your homepage, or a sign where the URL will not change.

Dynamic QR codes and short links (Pro and Business)

A dynamic code points at mrurl.co/yourname (or your own domain on Business when that ships). MrURL redirects each scan to the destination you set in the dashboard.

Dynamic codes suit anything printed in volume: menus, van livery, table tents and posters where the offer or URL will move.

When to upgrade

Stay with static if the link is stable and you are happy to reprint when it breaks. Move to dynamic when reprinting would hurt — seasonal menus, rotating offers, or a van wrap you expect to keep for years.
